In one of his famous episodes, Dr. Oz revealed a new rapid weight loss plan that when tested on a large number of people, resulted in an average weight loss of 9.3 pounds per person in only a matter of two weeks. Needless to say, weight loss is a common problem faced by millions of people all over the world. However, it is not an easy endeavor and requires regular exercise and following a strict diet. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why the Dr. Oz weight loss plan has gained so much popularity on the internet.

According to him, not only does the plan help you shed extra pounds but will also cause people to see a drastic decrease in health issues, such as chronic pain, food sensitivity and type-2 diabetes. Here’s a brief summary of the diet:
What You Can Eat

Lemon Water: Start your day with a cup of warm lemon water
Breakfast Smoothie: Include protein powder and almond milk
Green Tea: As long as it does not contain sugar, preferably organic and nothing out of a package
Protein: You are allowed one 6 oz. serving of meat (only fish, turkey or chicken) per day
Fats: Good fats in moderation, such as olive oil and avocado
Vegetables: While you are encouraged to eat vegetables, Dr. Oz discourages the use of vegetables high on the glycemic index
Healthy Snacks: Include a handful of nuts, hummus and pickles
Dairy: You are allowed only 1 cup of 2% Greek yogurt (no other form of dairy products)
Carbohydrates: ½ a cup of cooked brown rice per day (no other form of carbs/starches)

What to Eliminate

Wheat: According to Dr. Oz, gluten found in wheat and sugars can cause a number of health concerns, resulting in inflammation that tricks the brain into craving more calories
Artificial Sweeteners: This includes all the energy drinks people seem to live by
Alcohol: All addictive substances should be avoided during the weight loss plan
Coffee: According to Dr. Oz, it is imperative to eliminate coffee from one’s diet as it serves as a trigger, causing people to eat more food. In addition, most people do not drink their coffee black. Rather they add cream and sugar which are empty calories. Drinking a lot of coffee also elevates your cortisol level, which gives your brain a false sense of energy.
Dairy: Apart from a small helping of Greek yogurt, Dr. Oz urges people to eliminate dairy from their diet as it is the root of all food allergies and causes inflammation.
