The importance of vitamin D is often ignored as compared to other types of vitamins, such as A and C, which have gained popularity among the masses. However, this is no longer the case as nutritionists and medical researchers are constantly analyzing the effectiveness of vitamin D in our diet.

It is well known that vitamin D is vital for our bones as it increases their strength and intensity but other benefits of vitamin are still neglected and are not common among the general public. But if the importance of vitamin D is not known by the masses, it doesn’t mean it isn’t essential for your health.

It plays a significant role in the growth and development of teens and young adults. Usually, it is the time when body is going through a transformational phase and our bodily features become prominent.

In this situation, not only does vitamin D give you the strength to tackle the different factors that hinder growth but also boost the development of muscles and organs. Besides this, the importance of vitamin D becomes even more eminent as teens and young adults face different challenges for which a strong body is required. They face mental, social, and physical challenges, all at the same time, and to assist them in defeating any challenge, they need vitamin D.

Vitamin D is essential for ensuring a healthy heart, brain, and lungs to fight numerous diseases which the body is susceptible to at this tender age. But the good part is our body already contains pigments in the skin which boost the production of vitamin D by converting a specific chemical released when the sunlight stimulates it. It means when you are under direct sunlight, your body can produce vitamin D on its own in sufficient quantities to keep your body strong and energized.

However, sunlight is not the only source of vitamin D. Another great source is the food we consume. Vitamin D can be obtained from a number of fruits and vegetables, such as carrot, broccoli, salmon, papaya, and mangoes. Another reason that highlights the importance of vitamin D is the diseases that are caused by its deficiency. Deficiency of vitamin D can create problems for young adults when engaging in physical activities. In some cases, it’s easier to ignore these problems but in the coming years, they can lead to conditions like osteoporosis and arthritis.
