After reading about how bad soda is for your body, I decided that I was going to finally quit drinking soda. I wasn’t sure how my body would respond, and I certainly knew that it was going to be difficult, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me. What I found in the end, though, is that this is one of the best decisions I have ever made for my health.
Here is what happened when I stopped drinking soda:
My Taste for Sugary Things Was Reduced
When I drank soda every day, I felt as though I couldn’t get enough of the sweet stuff. And after I stopped drinking soda, I realized that I actually felt more satiated with pure water than I did with soda. While soda actually kept me thirsty and caused me to drink more and more of it, I was better able to quench my thirst with water, so I was able to cut out a lot of sugar right off the bat.
I Felt Lighter
Between the heavy dose of sugar that I was getting with every soda I drank, and all of the carbonation that came along with it, it wasn’t long before I started feeling heavy and sluggish. When I switched to drinking water, including flavored water, I started to feel lighter and lighter every day. I wasn’t filled with all of that air from the carbonated drinks I used to enjoy, and I also felt lighter because I wasn’t filling my body up with sugar.
My Energy Levels Stabilized
I would often turn to soda in order to get an energy boost, especially in the middle of the day. But the energy that I would get from soda would inevitably dissipate and I would be crashing before I knew it. I shouldn’t have been surprised, as that is what happens when you eat or drink something with a lot of sugar. Now that I have cut out the sugary soda as my means of getting energy, my overall energy level has stabilized, especially since I now get my energy from whole food sources like nuts and grains instead.
I Found It Easier to Lose Weight!
Finally, once I stopped drinking soda, I was able to feel more balanced. But on top of that, I was also able to lose weight much more easily than when I would try losing weight in the past. Seems that soda was the missing link on my weight loss journey!
